RI, Australia to conduct joint patrols in Timor Sea

Indonesia and Australia will conduct joint patrols of the Timor Sea this month in an effort to clamp down on illegal fishing in the waters.

Indonesian consul general in Darwin Harbangun Napitupulu on Tuesday said three Australian patrol boats and a reconnaissance plane with some 53 officials from related institutions would leave Darwin for Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara, for the operation on Sept. 7 or 8. Continue reading

ASEAN agrees region to have nuclear power plants

The ASEAN working group on the establishment of nuclear power plants announced on Wednesday that the ten member countries supported all current nuclear projects in the region.

The working group head, Carunia Firdausy, in Jakarta on Wednesday said no ASEAN member country objected to the plans of Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam plans to establish nuclear power plants. Continue reading

Indonesia-Rusia Sepakat Tingkatkan Kerjasama Teknik Militer

Jakarta, (ANTARA News) – Pemerintah Indonesia dan Rusia sepakat untuk meningkatkan kerjasama teknik militer dilandasi saling pengertian dan pemahaman yang sejalan.

Demikian pernyataan bersama Sekjen Dephan Letjen TNI Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin dan perwakilan pemerintah Rusia Vyacheslav K. Dzirklan saat pembukaan Sidang Komisi IV Bidang Kerja Sama Teknik Militer RI-Rusia di Jakarta, Rabu.

“Kerjasama RI dan Rusia terutama dalam bidang teknik militer telah berjalan baik,” kata Sekjen Dephan Letjen TNI Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin.

Pada 2006 kedua delegasi telah melakukan pertemuan kedua dan sekaligus penandatanganan nota kesepahaman tentang bantuan dalam pelaksanaan program kerja sama teknik militer. Continue reading

Australian minister opens regional police course in Semarang

Australian Minister for Home Affairs Bob Debus on Monday opened a senior policing course at the Jakarta Center for Law Enforcement Cooperation (JCLEC) in Semarang, Indonesia.

“This program will develop an alumni of senior police officers who will be able to share their knowledge with their counterparts in other regional police forces,” Debus said in statement made available to The Jakarta Post.

The JCLEC is an education and training institution jointly managed and operated by the Indonesian and Australian governments, reflecting the strong commitment by both countries
